The National Museum of African American Music’s From Nothing to Something curriculum seeks to highlight the incredible impact of African American culture on the landscape of American music.

The full curriculum includes seven workshops covering the spoons, harmonica, cigar box guitar, banjo, washtub bass, songwriting, and lyrics.

The banjo and spoons workshops are available as digital projects, powered by QuaverEd, an online learning platform used in more than 18,000 schools around the world. Each project is packed with interactive songs, stories, and activities that bring NMAAM’s educational content to life in an engaging, easy-to-use platform. Free printable PDF project books and lesson plans are available for download.
