“I use it daily, and my students love it.”

The Joy of Jump Rope
Although Mayra Trillo loves QuaverHealth and QuaverPE for a variety of reasons, the physical education teacher at Solar Preparatory School for Girls in Dallas, Texas, shares a fun one first.
Jump-rope.
Specifically, long jump rope.
Ms. Trillo helps us make the distinction, explaining that with long jump rope, “the ropes are actually moving as the student enters and exits, which takes considerable skill and coordination.”
As part of the lesson, and before her students actually give it a go, Trillo says she plays Quaver’s long jump rope video so that her students can see for themselves how it’s done.
“We watch the video, we talk about it, and, of course, I’m there to guide them through it,” she says. “All of these tools give them the confidence they need to try it for themselves.”
Building Confidence — Everyone Plays a Role
Trillo expands on this important topic of self-confidence.
“We consider the task of confidence-building our most important mission, and Quaver helps us achieve this mission.”
“At Solar Preparatory School for Girls,” she continues, “we focus on empowering girls to live and lead lives with confidence and purpose.”
Trillo says that empowering girls is more than a motto – it is a living principle to which every teacher in the school is fiercely devoted.
“Our classroom teachers are passionate about this mission, and it’s reflected at every grade level and in the content of the curricula.”
“I do my part to reflect these values through physical education as well.”
This much is clear: When it comes to empowering girls, every educator plays an important role, whether it’s in the classroom or the gym.
A “Win-Win” for Everyone!
Trillo says she also enjoys being able to tailor and customize the lessons according to her needs, one of the many reasons she relies upon the resource daily.
She describes the curriculum as “consistently engaging,” emphasizing that the “comfortable connection” her students enjoy with the visuals, drills, and discussion points strengthens the foundation she’s already laid for her students.
“The videos help reinforce what I’m teaching,” she says. “They create another important layer of learning.”
Although she relies on both QuaverHealth and QuaverPE regularly, Trillo says she’s also grateful to have these resources in her back pocket when things don’t go exactly as planned.
“One year, I fractured my foot,” she recalls.
The injury obviously prevented her from teaching P. E. the way she usually teaches, “but Quaver was right there for me, and we didn’t miss a beat,” she says triumphantly.
“I was in a wheelchair and on crutches, so having Quaver’s videos close at hand was a real lifesaver.”
Her gratitude runs deep.
“Being able to rely on Quaver during that difficult time — specifically the instructional videos — provided me a way to show my students how to do what I simply couldn’t do at the time.”
She points to another group of educators who feel the P.E. resource “comes to their rescue” in unexpected moments—substitute teachers.
“Subs love it because it’s straightforward and easy to follow,” Trillo says. “Everything is right there in front of them. It’s a win-win for everyone.”
