Video Instructions for Every Screen!

Did you know that Quaver teachers can add recorded video instructions to any lesson or assignment that is distributed to students?

These video instructions will automatically pop open for students when they launch the assignment.

How to Use Video-Based Instructions

To add Written or Video instructions to any assignment or lesson:

  • Double click on a custom assignment or lesson in Resource Manager until the menu of the assignment’s content appears
  • Click on the screen you’d like to add instructions to. This triggers the screen info panel that appears in the middle of your Resource Manager.
  • Select MENU and EDIT NOTES/VIDEO INSTRUCTIONS

To add Written instructions:

  • If you would like to add written instructions, type instructions into the text box and click SAVE.

To add Video instructions:

  • If you would like to add VIDEO INSTRUCTIONS, click VIDEO INSTRUCTIONS in the top right corner of the instructions box.
  • To RECORD a video, click the red RECORD button. Click STOP when you are done recording. You’ll have five minutes to record your video.
  • When you’ve finished recording, click the purple PLAYBACK button to play back your recording.
  • If you’re satisfied with your recording, click the green SAVE button.
  • Click SAVE again when you’re back on the main instructions box.
  • To re-record your video, click the record button and click OK when asked if you would like to erase your work and replace the recorded video.
  • To UPLOAD a video from your device, click the blue UPLOAD button in the bottom right corner.
  • Select CHOOSE FILE and choose a video from your device to upload. The video must be an .mp4 or .mov file and under 300 MB and 5 minutes in length.
  • Click SAVE to save your uploaded video instructions.
  • Click SAVE again when you’re back on the main instructions box.

To view what Video instructions for assignments will look like to students:

  • Double click on a custom assignment in Resource Manager until the menu of the assignment’s content appears
  • Click on the screen you added instructions to. This triggers the screen info panel that appears in the middle of your Resource Manager.
  • You’ll now see a new video icon that appears.
  • Click the icon to preview your video. This is what your students will see when they view the instructions in their assignment. Please note that these will automatically pop up for students when they open the screen.
  • Seeing a “working clock” and a message that your video is being converted? This means your video is still being converted and may take a moment or two to appear.
  • If the following message appears:
    • Click OK to wait for the video to finish converting on this screen.
    • Click CANCEL to exit out of these instructions, wait for the video to finish converting, and return later to view the instructions

Once students have been given the assignment, they’ll be able to view the video instructions as they will pop up automatically. They can also view them by clicking INSTRUCTIONS on their assignment.

When to Use This Feature

At Home

Worried about missing out on that vital teacher-student connection while distance teaching? Video instructions allow you to stay connected and creative!

Video instructions make it easy for students to hear your voice and see your face — without the use of a video meeting platform and without ever leaving Quaver.

In Class

In class, the Video Instructions feature is a great option if you have a sub.

Simply leave behind a custom lesson or assignment and video instructions. Your substitute will thank you and students won’t miss a beat!
