The best part is, the setup process is now easier than ever with our new Student Roster Importer. Teachers and IT teams can work together to create student accounts for every student with just a few clicks! Read on to learn how to create student accounts in bulk using this new tool.
If you plan to access Quaver using a Single Sign On method such as Clever, Google, Classlink, etc. we do not recommend that you use this import process to create your rosters. Please consider using our Student Self-Enrollment option instead.
How to use the Student Roster Importer:
Step 1: Set up your classes in Quaver
The Student Roster Importer doesn’t create classes for you, it simply enrolls students into existing classes. So the first thing you need to do is to create classes in your teacher account.
Once you’ve logged into your QuaverMusic.com account, head over to your Teacher Admin tools located on your Teacher Dashboard.
- Select CLASSES to open your existing class list
- Click +ADD NEW CLASS at the bottom of the screen
- Complete the information on the Class Details panel
- Click SAVE
Once you’ve created the class, you’ll notice a Class Code in the fourth column. A different code will be shown for each class you create. You will use these Class Codes to complete your Student Data Import File.
Step 2: Prepare your Student Import File
Teachers can work with their IT team to create a spreadsheet with students’ information. You can download our Quaver New Student Import Example file for reference. When you’re ready to get started, download our Quaver New Student Import Template file to begin.
Reminder! Our Student Roster Importer is only for creating NEW student accounts and enrolling them in Quaver classes. If your students already have Quaver accounts, you can simply enroll students in new classes using our Student Self-Enrollment method.
There are eight columns, but you are only required to fill out email, password, and Class Code. If you would like specific QuaverNames, here is where you would list them. Otherwise, you can leave that column blank and we’ll create QuaverNames for your students. If you choose not to fill out a column, don’t delete the column itself. Leave the column in place with the header – just leave the fields below the header blank.
All Student Import Files must be submitted as CSVs. You should be able to save your spreadsheet as a CSV from any spreadsheet editing program, such as Microsoft Excel, Mac’s Numbers, or Google Sheets. You can view our help on how to save a CSV here.
Step 3: Upload your Student Import File
Once your student import file is prepared, head back to your Teacher Admin Panel and select STUDENTS. Click BULK IMPORT STUDENTS located at the bottom of the screen to begin the import process. Make sure your pop-up blocker is disabled!
Here is where you will find the Student Roster Importer! You can drag and drop your .csv file into the square to begin automatically uploading. Upload time may vary depending on file size and internet speed, but it typically only takes a few seconds or less.
After your file is uploaded, we will automatically begin validating the data. When validation is completed, we’ll let you know if we found any issues. If you don’t have any errors or warnings listed, you may click IMPORT STUDENTS.
If your file had errors or warnings listed, you will need to correct them. Once you’ve corrected the errors in your file, click RESTART to reset your workflow and upload the corrected file. If you only had warnings, then you can determine if you want to restart with a corrected file or proceed to Import Students.
After you click IMPORT STUDENTS, we’ll begin importing your student data and verifying that the QuaverNames you requested are available. Once completed, your import receipt will download automatically. Your import receipt will match the file you submitted. If you submitted a file without QuaverNames, the receipt will now have the QuaverNames filled in. You can use this as a reference sheet for your students’ QuaverNames and Passwords.
If you ever need to download an old receipt file, you can find all the old imports by clicking PAST IMPORTS in the upper left corner.
